Someone passing by found the woman’s body near the corner of Center Street and called police.
SAN ANTONIO — A woman was found deceased by a neighbor Friday morning on a street in the east side not far from IDEA Carver school, police say.
This happened around 5:25 a.m. in the 600 block of Center Street.
Police say the woman’s body was found with a significantly large gunshot wound on her stomach on the sidewalk near the yard by the street.
The victim appears to be in her 30s or 40s. Her identity has not yet been released.
It is unknown what led to the shooting or when the shooting occurred, police say. Police did say they are searching for a possible suspect who was in a dark-colored vehicle in the area Thursday night.

Due to the body being found near the school, IDEA Public Schools released this statement:
“IDEA Public Schools is aware that a deceased individual, not associated with IDEA Public Schools, was found outside of IDEA Carver. All students and staff are safe. As this is an ongoing investigation, we have no further comment. All questions should be directed to the San Antonio Police Department.”
Center Street will be blocked off while officers continue their investigation.
