SAN ANTONIO — A dating app meet-up that was supposed to be a casual game night takes a violent turn when a woman who met a man on a dating app ended up being held hostage and assaulted, police say.

Now the man accused in the attack is facing charges.

What started as a second date spiraled into a terrifying night for this woman after police say she was trapped and held against her will.

The dating app nightmare finally ending when she was able to escape running door to door desperately begging for help.

Investigators say 26-year-old David Miranda Martinez invited the victim over to his apartment Saturday night near the 7500 block of Potranco Road for what he called a game night.

According to an arrest warrant, the 35-year-old victim quickly became uncomfortable, and when she tried to leave, Martinez snapped.

Police say he grabbed her keys, took her phone, and held her hostage, even punching her several times in the chest. Terrified, detectives say she finally managed to escape by running door-to-door in the apartment complex begging for help.

Detectives were able to track down Martinez using his dating app profile and social media page.

Martinez is facing two charges, including robbery.

He has since been released from jail and will be back in court early next year.
