AUSTIN, Texas — The Travis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman was stabbed to death on Monday.
Deputies were called to a home in the 14500 block of Oliphant St. around 4 p.m. in Austin’s Colony neighborhood.
Deputies arriving at the scene found the woman in her 50s with stab wounds. CPR was administered, but she died at the scene at 4:36 p.m.
The sheriff’s office identified the suspect as the victim’s ex son-in-law, 34-year-old Ananias Jimenez-Arroyo.
The family member who called 911 told deputies he entered the home as the stabbing was happening, leading to a fight between him and Jimenez-Arroyo. The suspect then fled the home, the sheriff’s office said.
Shortly after the first 911 call, Jimenez-Arroyo’s brother-in-law called 911 to report the crime and provide the suspect’s location.
The Austin Police Department detained Jimenez-Arroyo at a residence in the 7000 block of Decker Lane. He was booked into the Travis County Jail early Tuesday morning after being released from the hospital.
This is the Travis County Sheriff’s Office’s second homicide investigation of 2025.
