Woman in vehicle shot, killed on city’s South Side, police say

SAN ANTONIO – A local woman is dead following a shooting on the city’s South Side late Thursday night, according to San Antonio police.

Officers were called just after 9 p.m. to a gas station at the intersection of Southwest Military Drive and Commercial Avenue after receiving word of a person wounded.

According to police, an argument had broken out between two men at a taco stand and as one of the men was leaving and getting into their Jeep to drive off the other fired a gunshot into their window, striking a female passenger in the chest. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the man in the Jeep drove to a nearby gas station, where he called for help. The suspect fled in his own vehicle and has not yet been found.

SAPD said it is unclear as to exactly how the two men knew each other.

The woman killed has not been identified, but is said to be in her mid 20s.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all responded to the call.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, police said.
