Woman riding her bike hit by stray bullet, police say

She told officers she was just riding her bike when she heard what sounded like gunshots, then felt pain in her lower extremity.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman who was just riding her bike near Castle Hills was hit by a stray bullet after reportedly hearing gunshots.

San Antonio Police responded to the 2200 block of Jackson Keller Road around 9 p.m. Saturday for reports of a shooting.

The 22-year-old victim told officers she was riding her bike in the 8300 block of Speedway Drive when she heard what sounded like gunshots, then felt pain in her lower extremity. She realized she had been shot and then rode her bike to the 2200 block of Jackson Keller Road where she called for help.

Officers found her sitting on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to her lower extremity. She was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

Police were not able to find a crime scene at the location where she said she had been shot. No information was provided on any suspects.
