Woman shoots, kills boyfriend after disagreement over cellphone and car, BCSO says

Deputies tried to perform life-saving measures on the man but he died.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman fatally shot her boyfriend after a fight over a cellphone and a car Christmas Eve morning, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Javier Salazar said deputies were called to the 100 block of Mallow Grove around 6:30 a.m. on the far west side of the county. Upon arrival, deputies found a 42-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest. They tried to perform life-saving measures but were unsuccessful and the man died.

Authorities said 36-year-old Courtney Renee Hooper and the victim were dating and got into a disagreement over a car and cellphone, which ultimately led to the shooting.

Salazar said Hooper gave investigators video hoping it would clear her, but the sheriff said it only proved her guilt.

According to BCSO, there is an extensive call history at the residence and Hooper has a history of “dating-related-type disturbances” with other men.

Salazar said Hooper was placed in custody and faces a murder charge. Her children were also at the residence at the time of the shooting and CPS has been notified.
