SAN ANTONIO — A woman was shot while she was lying on her couch in an apparent drive-by shooting near Woodlawn Lake, police say.
It happened around 3:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of Kentucky Avenue near Culebra Road.
Officers responded to the home for reports of a shooting in progress. when they arrived at the residence, they found the 59-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to her lower extremity. She told police she was lying on her couch when she heard several gunshots outside of her home. One of the rounds hit her in her lower extremity.
She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injury.
She told officers she heard a vehicle driving away after the shooting. Police believe an unknown suspect drove to the location and began shooting towards the home, before fleeing the scene.
No other injuries reported. It is unknown at this time what led up to the shooting.
