Woman stabbed in rib cage after fight breaks out on downtown street, SAPD says

Police are trying to recover the weapon.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman was stabbed after a confrontation escalated in the downtown area Monday morning, San Antonio authorities said. 

Police were called to the 100 block of McCullough Avenue around 10:40 a.m. 

Authorities said a fight broke out in the middle of the street between two women. As the fight escalated, the suspect pulled out an undetermined weapon and stabbed a 36-year-old woman in her head and upper torso. 

The suspect was detained at the scene. 

The victim was taken to a local hospital with stab wounds to her rib cage and cuts on her head. 

Authorities are trying to figure out what weapon was used in the altercation.
