HOUSTON — A suspect is in custody after a woman was found fatally stabbed inside an apartment in southwest Houston Sunday night.
It happened on S. Braeswood Boulevard near S. Gessner Road.
According to Houston Police Department Lt. R. Willkens, officers and the Houston Fire Department responded to a call of a stabbing with CPR in progress. When they arrived at the apartment complex, they found a woman in her early 40s with multiple stab wounds.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Willkens said the victim’s 13-year-old son was the one who found his mom dead. He had briefly left the apartment to walk to a nearby store. When he returned, the front door was locked, but he managed to get in through the back door from the patio.
The teen immediately left the apartment and called 911 from a friend’s home.
Investigators said the suspect, a man in his 30s, who had been in an on-and-off relationship with the victim, later turned himself in to authorities. His identity has not yet been released.
HPD’s homicide division is continuing the investigation. No charges have been formally announced at this time.
