Woman struck in head with brick in attack on San Antonio’s west side, SAPD says

Police say a 41-year-old woman was struck in the head in an afternoon attack on San Antonio’s west side.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was arrested Friday afternoon after police said he struck a woman in the head with a brick during an assault on San Antonio’s west side.

San Antonio police were called to the 500 block of West Commerce Street about 2:04 p.m. for a reported assault in progress, according to a preliminary police report. When officers arrived, a witness told them a 53-year-old suspect had attacked a 41-year-old woman with a brick, police said.

Officers were given descriptions of both the suspect and the woman and located them nearby. The suspect was detained as the woman was evaluated and checked out by emergency medical services, police said.

The man was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was not immediately identified.

The investigation remains ongoing, and details may change as more information becomes available, police said.
