Police are investigating after hikers discovered a woman’s burning body at Leon Creek Greenway trails. An accelerant was found nearby, officials say.
A woman’s burning body was found at the Leon Creek Greenway trails near Prue Road Friday morning, officials said.
First responders were called out to the Prue Road area around 8:52 a.m.
Police say, about a quarter mile from the trail head, hikers saw a fire and then noticed a burning body as they got closer. Police discovered it was a woman’s dead body that had been recently set on fire.
Officials also say some type of accelerant was found near the body. Police say this is very early in the investigation and did not give any identifying information about the woman or how she died. The San Antonio Fire Department’s arson unit will also be assisting with the investigation.
