Women accused of shooting at Schertz house from a car with a young child inside

Two women are charged with shooting at a house with a child in the car in Schertz, police report.

SAN ANTONIO — Two women are facing charges and accused of shooting at a house from a car with a child inside, Schertz Police said.

The incident happened at the 1300 block of Wagon Way in Schertz around 3:23 a.m. Friday.

Police say someone inside a car fired shots at a home. No one was hurt, but the shooting did damage the home and one vehicle.

A short time later, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description of the drive-by shooters. Officers arrested Yasmine Mello, 21, and Lytashia Walker, 22, both from San Antonio, police said. 

They found a young child in the car at the time of the traffic stop, but the child was not harmed.

Mello faces charges of conspiracy to commit deadly conduct and endangering a child and Walker faces charges of deadly conduct and endangering a child. They are booked into the Guadalupe County jail. 

The child was safely released to the maternal grandmother, police said in a news release.
