Worker injured after transformer explosion at construction site in west-side San Antonio, police say

According to SAPD, a worker suffered possible life-threatening burns after a transformer located near a gas tank suddenly exploded.

SAN ANTONIO — An investigation is underway into an explosion at a far west-side construction site Friday night that injured a worker, according to San Antonio police.

The incident was reported at 10:19 p.m. in the 3900 block of Wiseman Boulevard, near U.S. Highway 151 and Loop 1604.

Police said officers were dispatched to the scene and found a construction worker who had been near a transformer that exploded. The transformer was located near a gas tank, according to police.

SAPD said officers assisted with traffic control while the San Antonio Fire Department worked the incident.

Earlier reports indicated the worker was rushed to the hospital with possible life-threatening burns. The worker’s condition remains unknown at this time.
