World Wrestling Entertainment’s biggest show of the year will be happening outside North America for the first time.
WASHINGTON — WWE’s WrestleMania, the Super Bowl for the sports entertainment company, will be headed outside North America for the first time in history.
WrestleMania 43 will be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2027, World Wrestling Entertainment announced Friday.
The company made the announcement during a YouTube live stream from Las Vegas, where this weekend’s Canelo vs. Crawford fight is taking place. The live stream featured Triple H, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Seth Rollins, Logan Paul, Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, Stephanie Vaquer and Charlotte Flair.
In 2018, WWE signed a 10-year deal with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sport in 2018 for annual shows. The company has since hosted numerous Premium Live Events in both Riyadh and Jeddah.
“It’s hard to put into words really how significant it is and what a partnership that has been over the last 8 years or so,” WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque, known by the ring name Triple H, explained. He added that WWE going to Saudi Arabia is essentially “our first foray into doing our super bowl in an international market.”
Saudi Arabia is also already hosting the 2026 rendition of the Royal Rumble, another one of WWE’s top annual Premium Live Events.
Next year’s WrestleMania, “The Showcase of the Immortals,” will once again be held in Las Vegas, even though it was initially announced that it was going to be in the city of New Orleans.
WrestleMania has grown in recent years to becoming a two-night event. Except for WrestleMania VI and WrestleMania X8 in Toronto, the show has always been held in the United States.
There had been hopes from wrestling fans in Europe that London or Paris would be the first overseas cities to host WrestleMania.
