York County Sheriff’s Office swears in new K-9 to the force

Mason is the third Bloodhound in the sheriff’s office K-9 program since the it started in 2008.

YORK, Pa. — The York County Sheriff’s Office welcomed its newest member of its force on Friday.

The newest member of the sheriff’s office K-9 program Mason was introduced during a press conference on Friday afternoon. Members of the Free Masons from York and Adams counties helped raise $75,000 over the past 14 months to pay for Mason, the K-9 vehicle and other associated costs.

“We’ve all heard, not all heroes wear capes, and here today we are noting that some of those heroes wear a badge and they walk on two legs, and some walk on four legs,” said State Sen. Kristin Phillips (R-York County).

Mason is the third K-9 since the program began in 2008 and will take over for the current K-9 Prince when he retires.
