MARIETTA, Ga. — The Marietta Police Department is mourning the passing of a retired K9 officer, Atos, whom they said “lived a full and happy life.”
“You were both a fine police officer and a good boy!” a Facebook post Sunday said of K9 Atos.
According to Marietta Police, K9 Atos served from March 2015 to June 2022. He worked alongside handlers Sgt. (then officer) Ray Figueroa and Officer Aaron Johnson.
He was born on October 29, 2013.
“He began his career with the Marietta Police Department in March of 2015 where he served as a dual-purpose canine trained in narcotics detection, tracking, evidence recovery and criminal apprehension,” the Facebook post said. “K9 Atos loved to work and serve our community. He was loyal, dedicated, goofy, and sweet. He enjoyed his final days in retirement with Officer Johnson and his family while lounging around the yard and house.”
The post added: “Rest in peace over that rainbow bridge, Atos.”
