Young man fatally shot on northeast side of town early Wednesday

San Antonio police are investigating after a young man was found shot and killed early Wednesday morning on the northeast side of town.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened early Wednesday morning on the northeast side of San Antonio.

Officers with the San Antonio Police Department were called around 6:50 a.m. for a shooting in progress in the 4800 block of Goldfield Drive near Rittiman Road.

When officers arrived, they found one victim dead at the scene.

Police say the victim is a young man believed to be in his late teens or early 20s. His identity has not yet been released.

Investigators say they learned there may have been a disturbance in the area the night before, but they are still working to confirm what happened and say they are receiving conflicting information from witnesses.

Authorities believe the suspect fled the scene, and police say multiple people could be involved.

Neighbors in the area are being interviewed as detectives work to piece together what led up to the shooting.

Police are also working to obtain a search warrant as part of the investigation.

The San Antonio Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional details have not yet been released.
