Genevieve Violet Avina is 4’11” tall, weighs about 160 pounds and has brown eyes and brown hair.
SAN ANTONIO — The search for 17-year-old Genevieve Violet Avina continues tonight.
Avina has been missing since Saturday morning and was reportedly last seen leaving her home at the 78-hundred block of Belmont Valley on the far west side of Bexar County.
Most kids are home for the holidays preparing for Thanksgiving with their families but for Avina’s, all they know is she’s somewhere out on the streets missing since Saturday and the last time she was seen she reportedly had no shoes.
“They don’t know what to do and they just walk out that door and they just leave…so not having shoes…it’s not the first time we’ve seen that type of thing,” Lori Wittmeyer with Search and Support SA said.
And there’s no telling what Avina is dealing with since stepping out of her home but Wittmeyer said finding her is all in the details.
“We would put flyers everywhere…we would look for ring cameras…we would look for her favorite stores…is there an area she likes to go…is there a convenience store she likes…we would blast the area with these flyers.”
BCSO said the 17-year-old was last seen at the 78-hundred block of Belmont Valley leaving her home at 6:30 Saturday morning.
They said she had no shoes on but was wearing a long sleeve black shirt and gray sweatpants.
Avina is 4’ 11” with brown hair and brown eyes and she’s said to have no friends or family in the area…other than the immediate family that reported her missing.
“Don’t be afraid to call your family…they love you Genevieve and they want you back home.”
For Wittmeyer leaving no stone unturned will take Avina’s loved ones closer to wherever she may be.
“Sometimes things that might be embarrassing to a family or family member might be the exact things we need to know about because that might give us a clue.”
Focusing on what can happen rather than what has happened could lead to an outcome everyone had hoped for.
Whittmeyer said to have some grace when it comes to Avina and the family. She added that there will be a solution, it may be on a couple weeks.
BCSO wants to remind you that it’s a Class A misdemeanor to Harbor a Runaway and is Punishable up to ONE YEAR IN JAIL and UP TO A $5,000 fine.
