
Two people are behind bars after deputies say they stole a cargo shipment containing $250K worth of snow crab.
GUADALUPE COUNTY, Texas — The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office have recovered a stolen cargo shipment valued at more than $250,000 and arrested two suspects in connection with the case, authorities said.
Investigators received information about the shipment, which was being transported in a truck tractor and semi-trailer in the area. Deputies located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 8800 block of Interstate 10 West.
Following an investigation, authorities confirmed the cargo, a shipment of snow crabs, had been stolen and successfully recovered.
On Friday morning, the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau met with the cargo’s owners to arrange for its return.
Two suspects, identified as Rafael Velez and Leonardo Lara, were taken into custody.
Both were booked on a first-degree felony charge of theft of cargo valued at $200,000 or more.
