Two men were detained overnight after allegedly reversing into a police patrol unit at a hotel during a vehicle burglary investigation, SAPD says.
SAN ANTONIO — Two men were taken into custody early Friday after a vehicle struck a patrol unit in a north side hotel parking lot, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
The incident happened around 4 a.m. near Jones Maltsberger Road and Northern Boulevard. According to the San Antonio Police Department, an officer was patrolling a hotel parking lot in the area due to a recent string of vehicle burglaries.
Police said the officer spotted a vehicle that matched the description of one connected to an earlier incident. The car was occupied by two men. When the officer activated emergency lights and exited the patrol unit, the suspect vehicle was put into reverse and backed into the front of the police unit, the SAPD said.
The officer then drew a weapon and held both individuals at gunpoint until additional officers arrived. The two suspects were detained at the scene, according to police.
No additional details, including whether anyone was injured or what charges may be filed, were immediately available. The investigation remains ongoing.
