Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in the fatal hit-and-run death of 31-year-old Quinton Simmons.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police and Crime Stoppers are renewing their call for information in a deadly hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 31-year-old man earlier this year.
Investigators are seeking help identifying the driver responsible for a fail-to-stop-and-render-aid crash that left Quinton Simmons dead.
According to police, Simmons was last seen with friends near Interstate 35 and César Chávez Boulevard on the night of Feb. 5. His fiancé, Steve Campos, told KENS 5 he became concerned when he could no longer reach Simmons by phone and began searching for him.
Simmons was found shortly before 1 a.m. on Feb. 6 with severe injuries. The Bexar County Medical Examiner later determined he died from blunt force injuries.
Campos says investigators told him surveillance footage showed Simmons walking onto the freeway before he was struck by a vehicle.
“He was left there. He’s not an animal, he’s not trash,” Campos said.
Despite months of investigation, the driver involved has not been identified.
Now, Crime Stoppers of San Antonio is offering up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
For Campos and Simmons’ loved ones, the hope is that someone who knows what happened will finally come forward.
