Abandoned once, now Mack just wants a family | Forgotten Friend

This playful German Shepherd-Husky mix survived abandonment and is waiting for the family that won’t leave him again.

KERRVILLE, Texas — Some dogs carry a story in their eyes.

Mack is one of them.

The 3-year-old German Shepherd-Husky mix was abandoned at a rest stop off Interstate 10, left to fend for himself until rescuers with KPA spent a week humanely trapping him and bringing him to safety.

Since then, Mack has been decompressing, healing and learning that people can still be kind.

Now he’s ready for the chapter he deserved all along: a forever home.

Mack is healthy, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and up to date on flea and heartworm prevention. In short, this handsome boy is packed and ready to go.

And his personality? Pretty unforgettable.

He loves toys. He enjoys the outdoors. He adores being petted, brushed and dried off after adventures. He also has one hilariously human habit—Mack likes to sit in chairs like he pays rent.

He gets along especially well with female dogs and would do great with kids. He doesn’t need an ultra-active household, just one with love, stability and maybe a yard where he can patrol squirrels.

After being left behind once, Mack deserves someone who chooses him for good.

Because some dogs need rescuing.

Others are just waiting to rescue you right back.

If you would like to add Mack to your family, contact Kerrville Pets Alive! at info@kerrvillepetsalive.org. His adoption fee is $175, which covers the cost of his medical treatment, including neutering, and vaccinations.

Kerrville Pets Alive is an all-volunteer animal welfare charity serving Kerr County. You can check out their adoptable pets on Petfinder or visit their adoption events every first and third Saturday between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., at 2102 Memorial Blvd. in Kerrville.

For whoever adopts Mack, Lucy’s Doggy Daycare & Spa will be lending a paw by offering them a free “Glow Up” Day at the Spa, which includes a massage therapy bath and Pawdicure. One of Lucy’s most cherished core values is to continue Lucy’s legacy of giving back to pups in need, as Lucy herself was a rescue!
