SAN ANTONIO — A homeowner was seriously injured after investigators say he was attacked by a squatter while trying to reclaim his property.
According to investigators, the suspect, identified as Diego Alvarado, got into an argument with the homeowner on March 30 at a house in the 1200 block of West Craig Place.
Authorities say the confrontation escalated when Alvarado allegedly picked up a brick and struck the homeowner in the face. The impact knocked the 63-year-old man to the ground, leaving him with severe injuries, including missing teeth and a deep cut that required stitches.
Investigators say the suspect then went back inside the home and refused to leave. Police were unable to arrest him at that time.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where investigators say he suffered life-altering facial injuries.
Alvarado is now charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.
