Armed suspect accused of assaulting juvenile on the run in Kerr County

Deputies say the suspect fled an RV resort and remains at large as a manhunt continues.

A late-night assault has sparked an active manhunt in Kerr County, with authorities warning the public to stay alert.

The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded shortly after 10 p.m. April 30 to an RV resort in the 2800 block of Goat Creek Road.

Investigators say 44-year-old David Bryan Cox Jr. is accused of assaulting a juvenile at the residence before fleeing on foot.

Witnesses reported Cox was armed with at least one firearm and wearing a ballistic vest and a gun belt with multiple magazines. He was last seen in white basketball shorts.

Kerrville EMS treated the juvenile at the scene while deputies and investigators from specialized units launched an immediate search. Officials say Cox was not located and remains at large.

Authorities say Cox has connections to Mountain Home and Harper, Texas. A warrant has been issued for assault by strangulation.

He is considered armed and dangerous. Residents in the area are urged to stay aware of their surroundings, secure their homes and not approach the suspect.
