SAN ANTONIO — A Bexar County man is behind bars after authorities accused him of exchanging explicit messages, photos and videos with an 11-year-old girl.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said deputies began investigating after the child’s guardian took away her phone as punishment and searched through it. That’s when the guardian discovered explicit messages, photos and videos allegedly exchanged between the girl and 21-year-old Hector Fuentez.
Deputies also said they found evidence Fuentez allegedly tried to get the child to come to his home using a rideshare service.
Salazar said investigators uncovered discussions about sending someone to the girl’s home to record sexual activity and send it back to Fuentez.
“Unfortunately, our kids can never be 100% safe,” Salazar said. “Sometimes the suspects that are committing these crimes against children are people that we think we know well enough to trust around our children. But unfortunately, that’s just not the case.”
Fuentez was arrested and expected to be booked into the Bexar County jail Friday evening. Salazar said Fuentez is also facing federal charges involving illegal gun switches, which are devices that turn handguns into fully automatic weapons.
The sheriff said investigators believe there could be additional victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office or submit a tip online.
