‘Rest well little man’ | Human remains found at Everman home confirmed to be 6-year-old Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, officials say

The remains of 6-year-old Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez were identified in a home search in Everman, as his mother, charged with capital murder.

EVERMAN, Texas — The human remains recovered this week during a multi-department excavation at a home in Everman have been positively identified as those of 6-year-old Noel  Rodriguez-Alvarez, the Tarrant County District Attorney confirmed Friday.

The home in the 3400 block of Wisteria Lane has been searched before in connection with the disappearance of 6-year-old Noel Rodriguez Alvarez. Noel’s mother, Cindy Rodriguez-Singh, who is charged with capital murder, was found incompetent to stand trial last month.

In a Friday statement, Everman Police Chief Al Brooks says, “I would like to tell him. Rest well little man. We’ll take it from here.

Noel was reported missing in March 2023, months after he was last seen alive in October 2022. At the time of his disappearance, investigators were falsely told that Noel was living with his biological father in Mexico, officials said.

Noel was born with developmental and physical disabilities. Authorities have long believed that Noel was dead, but his body has never been recovered until now, the Tarrant County DA said in a news release. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner used dental records to positively identify Noel.

“This case has weighed heavily on our community from the beginning,” DA Phil Sorrells said in a news release. “Noel was a child whose life mattered. He deserved protection, care, and love. Instead, he became the victim of an unthinkable crime.

Newly obtained letters Rodriguez-Singh wrote from jail to a judge offer a glimpse into her state of mind while in custody.

“Why am I being placed in the state hospital?” one letter reads. “I’m not a psycho person.”

In another, Rodriguez-Singh wrote, “They’re treating me very very bad, and I cried for the pain they’re making me go through.”

She also wrote, “I get threats every day,” and “God knows I’m not a bad person.”

Before one court appearance, Rodriguez-Singh wrote, “It might be the last day of jail tomorrow. God will be with me.”

Rodriguez-Singh is awaiting transfer to a state mental health facility in an effort to regain competency to stand trial.

Authorities extradited Rodriguez-Singh back to the United States last year after investigators said she fled to India with her husband and other children shortly after an Amber Alert for Noel was issued in 2023. Noel was not with them when they fled the country.

District Attorney Sorrells reaffirmed his office’s commitment to pursuing justice.

“Our responsibility is to seek justice for Noel and to hold Cindy Rodriguez fully accountable under the law,” Sorrells said. “We owe that to Noel and to the people of Tarrant County.”

The case drew national attention as crews searched the Everman property in 2023. Video from that search showed cadaver dogs alerting in the backyard near a concrete patio that investigators said Rodriguez-Singh had installed before leaving the country.

“The announcement of positive identification of the remains of Noel comes with wide ranging emotions for those who have been invested in this case. In one respect, today’s news brings a sigh of relief knowing we can now see Noel placed to rest in a respectful manner as the young man deserves.  On the other hand, it marks the passing of yet another milestone in the arduous path to justice for this little guy. We have heard the term “closure” bandied about. There is far too much ahead on the pathway to justice to be discussing closure. Today is about respect for Noel.  I hope he can see how many new friends have been searching for him. New friends who never had the opportunity to meet him but will never forget him. I would like to tell him “Rest well little man. We’ll take it from here.”
