Police say a jogger or walker was pulled into the creek by high water before the body was later found downstream.
SAN ANTONIO — A man was found dead Friday morning in San Pedro Creek, and police say the case appears to be a tragic accident.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were called around 8 a.m. for reports of a person in the water.
When officers arrived, they found a man believed to be in his 30s or 40s face down in shallow water near the edge of the creek.
He was unresponsive.
Fire crews were called to the scene and pulled the man from the water, but he was pronounced dead.
Investigators say there were no visible injuries or signs of foul play. Authorities believe the death may have been an accidental drowning.
Police noted the man appeared “clean cut,” and there was no immediate indication he was experiencing homelessness.
Officials say the area includes nearby jogging trails, and it’s possible the man slipped, fell or was caught off guard by rising water levels.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office and homicide unit are continuing to investigate to determine the exact cause of death.
