CodeRed alert issued for armed suspect in Kerr County

Authorities warn residents to stay inside as deputies search for a dangerous suspect.

KERR COUNTY, Texas — A late-night emergency alert has residents on edge in Kerr County as deputies search for an armed and dangerous suspect.

The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office issued a CodeRed alert just before 1 a.m. Friday after an assault was reported in the 2800 block of Goat Creek Road.

Officials say the suspect — a 44-year-old white male — fled the scene on foot and is believed to be armed.

He is described as about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing roughly 215 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes and a beard. He was last seen wearing white basketball shorts, a tactical mask, body armor and a duty belt with multiple magazines.

Authorities say the suspect may also be under the influence of narcotics and should be considered dangerous.

Residents in the area are being urged to shelter in place, lock doors and avoid contact.

Anyone who sees the suspect is asked to call 911 immediately.

Deputies remain actively searching the area.
