Federal documents say agents found meth in a toilet, shower, and throughout the home as the suspect allegedly tried to destroy drugs during the raid.
SAN ANTONIO — A federal drug investigation on San Antonio’s northeast side led to a major bust this week – after agents say a suspect tried, and failed, to destroy evidence as they moved in.
According to a federal criminal complaint, agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s San Antonio office executed a search warrant Monday at a home in the 6800 block of Montgomery Drive.
Inside, investigators say they found Thomas Pellecier, also known as Thomas Merrero, and quickly detained him without incident.
According to the complaint, Pellecier attempted to destroy large amounts of methamphetamine as agents entered – flushing drugs down the toilet and washing more down the shower drain.
Even so, investigators say they recovered significant evidence throughout the home.
Federal documents detail methamphetamine found in multiple places, including inside the toilet, on the bathroom floor, and in a soaking wet duffle bag left in the shower – coated in drug residue.
Agents also reported finding numerous gallon-sized bags containing methamphetamine and residue near the bathroom.
In total, authorities say they seized approximately 97 grams of crystal methamphetamine, along with additional quantities that had been partially destroyed along with marijuana, THC products, bulk cash, and a Smith & Wesson handgun.
Investigators say Pellecier later admitted the drugs and the firearm belonged to him.
According to the complaint, he told agents he had received approximately 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine just days earlier, and was waiting on a larger shipment from Mexico.
The document also states Pellecier told investigators he obtained the firearm in exchange for methamphetamine during a deal in San Antonio.
Authorities say he also acknowledged he was not allowed to possess a firearm because he is a convicted felon.
He is now charged federally with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
If convicted, he could face 5 to 40 years in prison, along with a fine of up to $5 million.
