SAN ANTONIO — A man was arrested after allegedly threatening Erika Kirk and posting bomb threats targeting downtown San Antonio ahead of her June visit for a Turning Point USA event.
Online records state that Jacob Wenske, 26, faces charges of terroristic threat – impact to public service/public fear – serious bodily injury/influence government. This charge is a third degree felony.
According to an arrest affidavit, on April 12, the San Antonio Express-News published a Facebook post promoting Turning Point USA’s Women’s Leadership Summit set to occur June 5 through June 7 at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter. The post also referenced Erika Kirk visiting San Antonio for the event. Erika Kirk became CEO of Turning Point USA following the assassination of her husband and conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The legal document states Wenske posted in the comment section “I know exactly where to bomb.” Wenske later posted again in the same comment threat, “I can’t wait to be the valet for her escort.” Further investigation revealed Wenske previously worked for a parking management company, providing valet services to hotels and special events.
Authorities said these comments signify targeted violence and “are commonly interpreted as threats of mass-casualty violence.” The comments could also indicate surveillance and interest in the event’s entry points.
According to the arrest affidavit, investigators also discovered an email sent from Wenske on Jan. 26 that stated, “Death to Erika Kirk and every single speaker there!! America will live on without those scum on this earth. Every Christian nationalist shall perish in the bombing that will take place at every single Turning Point rally and event.”
Investigators said they were able to confirm the Facebook profile that made the threatening comments belonged to Wenske, which was determined through associated subscriber records, a registered email address, linked phone number and IP address information connected to Wenkse.
According to the arrest affidavit, investigators discovered repeated hostile and threatening posts or comments across multiple public threads in relation to people affiliated and supportive of Turning Point USA. Investigators said Wenske also directly communicated to Turning Point USA that he threatened death towards Erika Kirk.
San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter was made aware of the threats and increased their security including adding more uniformed officers, security personnel and heightened alerts.
Wenske was booked in the Bexar County jail.
