Enzo has spent 7 months waiting for someone to choose him | Forgotten Friends

This goofy, adventure-loving pup was abandoned through no fault of his own and is still searching for a forever family.

CANYON LAKE, Texas — Our “Forgotten Friends” series showcases a dog or cat each week that has spent a lengthy time at an area shelter, just waiting for someone to notice them and bring them home to love.

Enzo doesn’t understand why nobody has picked him.

The 1-year-old German Wirehaired Pointer mix has been waiting at Canyon Lake Animal Shelter Society since October 2025 after a heartbreaking series of events left him without a home.

According to rescuers, Enzo was originally rehomed before ending up with a teenage owner whose parents would not allow her to keep him. Eventually, he was let loose and abandoned. Since then, the happy-go-lucky pup has spent seven months hoping someone will give him the stable family he’s never had.

Despite his rough start, Enzo hasn’t let it dampen his spirit.

The 57-pound bundle of energy loves car rides, hiking, swimming, adventures and just about anything that sounds fun. Shelter staff describe him as a professional goofball who wants to be part of every activity and believes every stranger is a potential best friend.

Enzo recently spent two weeks in a foster home where he proved he’s more than just a handsome face. He’s potty trained, sleeps through the night without a crate and quickly discovered that cuddling in bed with his people is one of life’s greatest joys.

He’s also a social butterfly who loves other dogs and would thrive with an active canine companion. While he gets along great with dogs and adores people, he would do best in a home without cats.

And if treats are involved? Enzo will happily show off his “sit” command — usually followed by an excited little bounce while he waits for his reward.

Shelter staff say Enzo would be happiest with an active family willing to include him in everyday adventures, whether that’s a walk around the neighborhood or a weekend road trip.

After being bounced from home to home, Enzo deserves more than another temporary stop.

He deserves a forever family.

For whoever adopts Enzo, Lucy’s Doggy Daycare & Spa will be lending a paw by offering them a free “Glow Up” Day at the Spa, which includes a massage therapy bath and Pawdicure. One of Lucy’s most cherished core values is to continue Lucy’s legacy of giving back to pups in need, as Lucy herself was a rescue!
