An ongoing flooding threat cancelled the Cavaliers River Parade and other Fiesta events Monday evening, as heavy rain continues to pound San Antonio.
SAN ANTONIO — You might still need a poncho if you plan to celebrate San Antonio’s “party with a purpose” this week.
A Flash Flood Warning issued by the National Weather Service for Bexar, Comal and Guadalupe counties was extended for a third time to 11 p.m., having forced the cancellation of Monday festivities, including the Cavaliers River Parade, Fiesta De Los Reyes and Fiesta Carnival.
Heavy rain over the weekend did dampen some Fiesta favorite events like Oyster Bake, Taste of New Orleans and El Rey Fido, but Fiesta-goers did still manage to have some fun.
The rain caused SAFD to have a “technical” rescue when they used a ladder truck to rescue two occupants safely from a flooded area at Pinn Road and Highway 151. No injuries were reported.
The rain is expected to continue this week and could affect additional Fiesta events. Air Force and Space Force Day at the Alamo was also canceled Monday.
