Four people found dead in house fire on southeast side of San Antonio, officials say

Crews were called out around 10:45 a.m. to the 4400 block of Wrangler Run, which is near I-37 south of San Antonio.

SAN ANTONIO — Four people have died in a huge house fire on the southeast side, fire officials say.

Crews were called out around 10:45 a.m. to the 4400 block of Wrangler Run, which is near I-37 south of San Antonio.  A second alarm was called for the fire.

An SAPD spokesperson said fire crews found four people dead inside the home.

Preliminary reports from the fire department say a vehicle fire spread to the home, but fire officials later clarified that the flames started inside the home. Video shows a home completely collapsed due to the flames.

Joe Arrington from SAFD said when crews arrived, the flames were so huge, they could not go into the home.

“They made an attempt to put it out from the outside, to get into it, but there was so much fire, it was untenable. It was not a gamble we were willing to take with that much fire,” Arrington said.

The victims have not been identified. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Neighbors around the house were evacuated for safety reasons.

The house is expected to be demolished.
