Gas in San Antonio is 25 cents more now compared to last year, AAA says

SAN ANTONIO – Remember how much you were paying for gas last year in San Antonio? AAA says it’s about 25 cents less than this year, according to the latest data.

Texas’s statewide average gas price is $3.24 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel as of May 9, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. That’s 19 cents more per gallon compared to 2023.

The average state gas price is still lower than the national average of $3.64, with Lubbock paying the least at $3.03 per gallon and Forth Worth paying the most at $3.37 per gallon.

Prices in San Antonio

The current average in San Antonio is $3.22 for a gallon of regular unleaded, a 25-cent increase from last year when it was $2.97. Thursday’s price is still 14 cents cheaper than a week ago when it was $3.36 per gallon.

“Despite another week of increasing demand for fuel, supplies are keeping pace,” stated AAA Texas spokesperson, Daniel Armbruster.

Increase imminent as Memorial Day approaches

AAA said gas prices will likely increase as we approach Memorial Day weekend and fluctuate through May.
