H-E-B ties with Costco for supermarket with best customer satisfaction

We’ve done the whole Costco vs. H-E-B thing already. Just recently in fact. Now, the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ASCI) has released new rankings that show H-E-B is a tough U.S. competitor, and they only have stores in Texas. The ACSI scores for 2024 show that H-E-B and wholesale supermarket Costco received high marks when it comes to customer satisfaction in the U.S. making both stores are tied.

ACSI gave H-E-B a customer satisfaction rating of 85, which is a 5% jump from its ACSI rating in 2023. However, Costco also received the same score this year, putting the San Antonio-based grocer neck and neck with each other. H-E-B beat out other supermarket brands like Trader Joe’s, Walmart and Target.

MySA looked at a report from 2023 that said Costco had better prices when it came to groceries. This was mostly due to Costco selling items in bulk. But H-E-B had a more SKUs, meaning it has a wider variety of products to offer. Also, H-E-B has the market clamped inmost of Texas, with over 50 alone in San Antonio area and over 420 across Texas.

ACSI also rated customer experience trends with U.S. supermarkets, which shows that most shoppers are leaning more towards curbside. Ratings for convenience of store hours, ease of pickup process, accuracy of order fulfillment for pickup, convenience of store location and quality of mobile app.
