H-E-B to break ground on second low-price format Joe V’s in Dallas

H-E-B recently broke ground on its first Joe V’s Smart Shop in Dallas in December 2023, and now its ready to start turning dirt for a second location for the low-price format store. H-E-B has set a groundbreaking date of March 20 for the second Dallas store on the eastern side of town located at 5204 S Buckner Blvd., Dallas, TX 75227, H-E-B spokesperson Valentino Lucio confirmed to MySA. 

Lucio also said in an emailed statement that H-E-B hopes to open the second low-price format store in 2025. Stores like Walmart Supercenter, Sam’s Club and a Walmart Neighborhood Market have a strong hold on this area, according to the Dallas Morning News. 

H-E-B broke ground on the first Joe V’s Smart Shop on the southern side of Dallas at 4101 W. Wheatland Road, Dallas, TX 75237. The two stores are about 18 miles, or 30 minutes, apart from each other. H-E-B said in December 2023 that the store was set to open its doors in late summer 2024.

Joe V’s Smart Shop is like an H-E-B store that has been scaled down in size and offers low prices on produce, meat and other major brands. Customers still have access to H-E-B staples like an in-store bakery that makes tortillas, bread and pastries. The Wheatland Road store will even have a Sushiya, H-E-B’s sushi department. 

Joe V’s also carries H-E-B products and brands like like H-E-B Organics, Central Market, Hill Country Fare and H-E-B Meal Simple. Most of Joe V’s stores are in the Houston area. There are still no plans to build a Joe V’s Smart Shop in San Antonio.
