San Antonio is officially one of the NBA’s final four teams after taking care of business against Minnesota. Up next: the defending champions.
SAN ANTONIO — On to the next for the Silver & Black.
San Antonio finished off the Timberwolves in Game 6 in Minnesota – a place where San Antonio hadn’t won since October 2022 before two victories in their second-round series – thanks to sterling efforts on both ends of the court.
Now the young Spurs will prepare for their biggest test of the Wembanyama Era: a best-of-seven playoff battle against the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder, with the winner going to the Finals. It’ll be a heavyweight matchup between the only two Western Conference squads to win 60 games, but San Antonio has the momentum, having gone 4-1 against the Thunder in the regular season.
Still, OKC has turned it up when it matters most. They’re a perfect 8-0 through two postseason rounds – making them just the 11th team in NBA history with such a hot start – and winning games by an average of 16.6 points.
Something will have to give when the dominant Thunder and uber-confident Spurs meet, with all games in their matchup set to broadcast on NBC and Peacock. But when will that be?
Here’s the full Western Conference Finals schedule, keeping in mind that, for the first time in these playoffs, the Spurs’ opponent will have home-court advantage.
