Hot and humid Thursday, then a cool front sends changes in for Mother’s Day Weekend

SAN ANTONIO – An unseasonably hot and humid afternoon is in store Thursday, but changes are on the horizon following a cool front that moves in Thursday night.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Hot and humid Thursday: highs in the low 90s, feeling like 100 degrees in spots
  • An isolated strong/severe storm not off the table Thursday evening
  • Cool front arrives Thursday night
  • Cooler Friday as slightly drier air filters in; an isolated shower is possible
  • Few sprinkles or a shower Saturday, then a slightly better chance (~40%) for a few showers or a storm on Mother’s Day

Thursday (May 9)

  • Hot and humid
  • Highs in the low 90s in San Antonio, even hotter out west
  • Heat indices near 100 degrees in spots (stay hydrated!)
  • An isolated storm possible Thursday evening ahead of the cool front
  • Should a storm develop, coverage would be low, but it could be strong or severe with hail and gusty winds being the main concerns
  • Cool front arrives Thursday night, sending cooler and drier air in for the next few days

Friday (May 10)

  • Not as hot with highs in the mid-80s
  • Mostly cloudy skies
  • Slightly drier air filters in throughout the day
  • An isolated shower or two possible, most miss out

Saturday (May 11)

  • Cooler with highs near 80 degrees
  • Mostly cloudy with drier air
  • A few sprinkles or an isolated shower possible

Mother’s Day (May 12)

  • Cloudy and damp at times
  • Highs in the upper 70s/near 80 degrees
  • A few showers or a storm possible
  • Not a washout, but it wouldn’t hurt to keep the umbrella handy if you have any plans with mom!
Not a washout, but a few showers and isolated storms can’t be ruled out on Mother’s Day
