WASHINGTON — Tickets to this Saturday’s Kentucky Derby, the first in the elite Triple Crown, can be anywhere from $137 to $405,000. Whether you want to pay the price of a plane ticket or the cost of a suburban estate to watch the Derby depends on how much of the horse race you’d like to see and how intimate an experience you would like.
The least expensive official tickets to watch the race in Louisville, Ky. are available for $137 through Ticketmaster. Although the Infield General Admission tickets offer a limited view of the actual horse racing itself — the tickets advertise “No track view” — some say the infield has its own charms. Fans set up picnic blankets and chairs and can celebrate all the excitement on Derby Day. Infield standing room tickets near the final turn of the race are available for $377.
For an actual view of the full race, prices start at $917 for first-floor box seating of the race. Other available tickets are worth thousands of dollars.
Typically, the higher up you go, the more expensive the tickets will be. A dining room with a view of the race, known as Millionaires Row, for example, costs $5,639 per guest.
Finish line suites appear to be the most expensive option for viewing the race at $405,000 per suite. Guests in the 5th-floor finish line suites will have the best view of the race, all while enjoying an all-inclusive food and beverage menu, air conditioning and private restrooms.
The horse with the best betting odds was three-year-old Bay-colored Renegade, who galloped to victory at the Arkansas Derby in March. The Thoroughbred owned by sports drink billionaire Mike Repole, has a four-to-one odds of winning the race, according to the kentuckyderby.com’s live odds feature.
The 2025 winner of the Kentucky Derby was three-year-old Sovereignty, who also went on to win the Belmont Stakes in New York.
The Kentucky Derby is the first contest of the Triple Crown. The Preakness Stakes in Baltimore will be held on May 17 and the Belmont Stakes on New York’s Long Island has been scheduled for June 6.
The last horse to win all three races was Justify in 2018.
