How much money are Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano getting paid to fight on Netflix?

Ronda Rousey has hinted that her return to MMA includes a record-breaking payday.

WASHINGTON — Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano are preparing to face off Saturday night in their respective mixed martial arts comebacks on Netflix with a hefty payday in tow.

Just how much the two fighters will get is less clear…at least for now.

Rousey, who left the sport nearly a decade ago at the peak of her fame, said in interviews this week that her fight with Carano will break the purse record for female fighters.

“Well, I’m not allowed to say specifically, exactly what it is,” Rousey said in an interview with CNBC’s Alex Sherman. “I’m definitely blowing any kind of records of whatever record there was before for whatever a woman has been paid to fight in any kind of combat sport is being beaten by, you know how to say, like, order of magnitude more is being beaten.”

The former UFC champion noted that because the fight is happening in California, they have to publicize the pay amount after the fight, so she’s “really not allowed to say it now.”

According to the BBC, Rousey’s last reported purse in the UFC was $3 million, while Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor were reportedly paid about $5 million for their trilogy boxing bout last year.

But Rousey and Carano aren’t the only ones who are getting a chance to cash in, in ways many never could in UFC.

Rousey revealed last month that every fighter on Saturday night’s card at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, will earn a minimum of $40,000.

Most Valuable Promotions, co-founded by Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, is putting on the event and confirmed that’s their plan for all their mixed martial arts fights moving forward.

According to reports, that’s much higher than the UFC’s typical introductory fighter salary of $12,000 to show and $12,000 to win. Bidarian said MVP’s fight purses will also be a flat rate, with bonus incentives in play.

“That’s guaranteed, and then every fighter has a performance bonus in addition to that, [which there are] different levels [that] depends on the fighter,” Bidarian explained on “The Ariel Helwani Show.”

Rousey has claimed Saturday’s main event matchup will be her final fight, and she has a big goal in mind beyond going out with a win.

“I just want it to be the most viewed MMA fight of all time and that would be a success for me,” Rousey said.
