WASHINGTON — The 2026 Belmont Stakes will bring this year’s Triple Crown season to a close Saturday at Saratoga Race Course in New York.
The 158th running of the Belmont Stakes is scheduled for June 6 at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, where the race is being held while Belmont Park undergoes renovations. While Belmont Park is known for its 1 1/2-mile oval, this year’s race at Saratoga will be contested over 1 1/4 miles.
The Belmont Stakes traditionally serves as the final leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown, following the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. Golden Tempo enters the race after winning the Kentucky Derby, but skipping the Preakness Stakes. Since no horse won both the Derby and Preakness this year, there will be no Triple Crown winner this year.
The race is expected to feature many of the top 3-year-olds in horse racing as the sport concludes its Triple Crown season.
