
San Antonio Park Police said a man’s body was recovered from the San Antonio River Friday morning. An investigation is now underway.
SAN ANTONIO — A man’s body was recovered from the San Antonio River south of downtown Friday morning, according to San Antonio Park Police.
Authorities said officers responded to reports of a person in the water near East Mitchell Street. After arriving at the scene, officers located a man in the river.
San Antonio Park Police said the San Antonio Fire Department assisted with removing the body from the water. The man is described as a male believed to be between 50 and 60 years old.
Officials said there were no immediate signs of trauma. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene, and the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office was en route, according to police.
A portion of the nearby trail was temporarily closed as investigators processed the scene.
Authorities said it is unclear how long the man had been in the water, noting it could have been several hours or possibly overnight. The investigation remains ongoing.
