Lakers beat Spurs 113-104

San Antonio has been swept by the Lakers in the regular season since the 1997-98 season.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs lost a road game versus the Los Angeles Clippers, 113-104. San Antonio is on a three-game losing skid and has been swept by the Lakers in the regular season since the 1997-98 season.

Keldon Johnson had 25 points and five rebounds to lead the team while Jeremy Sochan added 14 points. Zach Collins finished with 16 points and seven rebounds while Doug McDermott recorded nine points in the loss.

Los Angeles held San Antonio to 37.7 percent shooting from the field, a season-low for a Lakers opponent.

The Spurs are now 14-34 on the season, on a three-game losing skid, and will next face the Los Angeles Clippers Thursday night on the road.

Here’s a sample of what the teams said after the game.

Gregg Popovich

“The guys played their butts off. They were making young-type mistakes but in a two-point game with eight minutes to go, at that point, we couldn’t make a shot. They [Lakers] made three, threes in a row and made it an 11-point game,” Gregg Popovich said. “At that point, it went back and forth but the effort was there. We’re getting better day by day. Just got to keep the faith.”

“They made a run and we didn’t respond the way we wanted to,” Johnson said. “Just got to be more solid. In my opinion, I feel like we played a great game for three quarters and a half. We were right where we wanted to be and we let it slip. We’ll just continue to get better. That’s our motto.”
