Firefighters say a blaze started in the attic at Tigoni Villas Apartments near Bandera Road.
SAN ANTONIO — A late-night fire damaged as many as a dozen apartment units at a west-side complex after a blaze that firefighters say may have been caused by a lightning strike.
Firefighters were called around 10:30 p.m. to a three-story building at the Tigoni Villas Apartments on Sunshine Drive near Bandera Road, according to the fire department.
The fire started in the attic, and crews believe a lightning strike may have sparked the blaze, according to the department.
Everyone was able to get out of the building safely, firefighters said.
The fire department estimates about eight to 12 apartments were damaged, primarily by water and severe roof damage caused by the fire.
The Red Cross was called to assist residents, but it was unclear early Friday how many people were affected, according to the fire department.
