NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — A New Braunfels man is facing 74 charges after game wardens accused him of poaching at least 13 white-tailed bucks across three counties, authorities said.

Game wardens say Darrell Maguire, 55, killed the deer between fall of 2024 and late summer of 2025.

Investigators say Maguire allegedly shot the deer with a crossbow from his truck, cut off the heads and left the carcasses behind.

Game wardens say several of the deer were killed in residential neighborhoods.

Maguire is facing 74 charges connected to the alleged poaching, game wardens said.
