Man arrested after allegedly fleeing fatal hit-and-run in Leon Valley, court records say

A man is accused of fleeing a fatal hit-and-run scene in Leon Valley, leaving a 43-year-old woman dead last month, according to an arrest warrant.

SAN ANTONIO — A man accused of fleeing the scene of a fatal hit-and-run in Leon Valley last month is now facing a felony charge, according to an arrest warrant.

Police say 27-year-old Matthew Valerio was driving when he struck a 43-year-old woman who was walking along the 5500 block of Grissom Road on March 7. The arrest warrant states the woman later died from her injuries.

Investigators say Valerio left the scene after the crash and abandoned his vehicle at a nearby apartment complex.

According to police, surveillance video shows Valerio running from the area and entering another vehicle after the collision.

Valerio is charged with failure to stop and render aid involving death, a felony offense.
