Man arrested after using stolen credit card at Alamo Ranch smoke shop, BCSO says

A 21-year-old faces charges of debit card abuse after allegedly using a customer’s card for unauthorized purchases at a smoke shop in Alamo Ranch.

SAN ANTONIO — A 21-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after Bexar County sheriff’s deputies said he used a customer’s stolen debit card to make unauthorized purchases at a smoke shop near Alamo Ranch.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded May 27 to a report of a stolen debit card after a resident discovered several unauthorized transactions on their bank account following a purchase earlier in the day.

Investigators obtained surveillance footage that allegedly showed an employee at a business in the 11900 block of Alamo Ranch Parkway using the customer’s debit card to make multiple unauthorized purchases at a nearby smoke shop. Deputies identified the suspect as Eduvin Garcia, 21.

Authorities said deputies later made contact with Garcia, who admitted to the offense. Officials said Garcia resisted arrest during the encounter before deputies took him into custody.

Garcia was charged with debit card abuse and resisting arrest, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office reminded residents to ensure debit and credit cards are returned after transactions, monitor bank accounts regularly and report suspicious or unauthorized activity immediately.

Anyone who believes they may be a victim of fraud or who observes suspicious activity is encouraged to contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 210-335-6000.
