SAN ANTONIO — A man who became stranded in a tree surrounded by floodwaters Tuesday morning on San Antonio’s east side was later found dead, according to officials.
The San Antonio Fire Department says crews were called around 6:58 a.m. to the 3500 block of J Street for a reported drowning emergency.
Initial reports indicated an adult man was stuck in a tree in high, moving water.
Officials say San Antonio Police Department had voice contact with the man before firefighters arrived, but that communication was later lost.
When rescue crews were finally able to reach him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
