SAN ANTONIO — A deadly police shooting is under investigation on San Antonio’s south side.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, the incident happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mission Villas apartment complex near Southwest Military Drive and South Flores Street.
Investigators say officers had been tracking a man wanted on multiple felony warrants, including violent offenses.
Police say undercover detectives identified the suspect, and SWAT officers moved in to take him into custody.
During the operation, officers deployed a flashbang device, but authorities say the situation quickly escalated.
Investigators say the man ran, then pulled out a gun and fired at officers.
Officers returned fire, killing the suspect at the scene.
Police say no officers were injured.
Authorities describe the suspect as armed and dangerous, with a history that included violent crimes and weapons-related activity.
The identity of the man has not yet been released.
SAPD says four officers fired their weapons, and two of them are 14-year veterans of the SWAT team.
All officers involved have been placed on administrative duty, which is standard procedure.
The shooting remains under investigation.
