Man sentenced to five years in prison after making terroristic threat towards local Walmart

In 2021, Coleman Blevins posted on social media, “I have no problem spending the rest of my life in prison for shooting up Walmart.”

SAN ANTONIO — A Kerrville man was sentenced to 60 months in prison after making a terroristic threat towards a local Walmart via social media.

Back in May of 2021, Coleman Thomas Blevins posted a photo of him hold a rifle on social media with the caption, “Im going to Walmart,” and a message that followed saying, “I have no problem spending the rest of my life in prison for Shootings (sic) up Walmart.”

The next day, officers executed a search warrant at Blevins’ apartment which led to the discovery of 556 rounds of ammunition and a black AR-15 .223 rifle with four magazines, which was they firearm that Blevins was seen holding in the social media post.

On Nov. 28, 2023, Blevins pled guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition after previously being convicted of a felony drug charge.

“Threats to carry out mass shootings are reprehensible,” said U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza. “Thanks to the quick work of our law enforcement partners, this threat remained just that and did not turn into a tragic event. This case demonstrates our commitment to peel back the veneer of online anonymity and aggressively pursue and prosecute those who threaten harm to our community.”
